We know the Trustees and staff are sincere in their zeal to protect the environment. But with all respect for their idealistic motives, anyone can deal with growth by restricting peoples’ rights and increasing the cost and difficulty of doing things.
This is not leadership. It’s bureaucracy.
As elected leaders, Trustees are chosen by the people because they are expected to be creative, to have bright minds and good hearts, sophisticated enough to deal with issues in brilliant ways that are win-win. We ask the Trust to find ways to Preserve and Protect that don’t just Reduce and Restrict—that don’t strip away our freedom, as residents, to enjoy our own property and the islands we live in and cherish.
